Kritika Tara Deb


Kritika brings her experience in legal research and writing, human rights work, and government service to her role at Fairmark. 

Prior to Fairmark, Kritika served as the Director of Legal Research and speechwriter for New York State Assembly Member Aravella Simotas.  She worked extensively on legislation championing women’s rights, more rigorous and enforceable sexual harassment policies, and better protections for frontline workers and vulnerable communities in New York. 

Before her role with the Assembly, Kritika worked for various international organizations and NGOs focusing on international human rights and refugees, including the United National High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Refugee Solidarity Network, and the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime. She also held roles with the State Department and the office of Senator Kristen Gillibrand.

Kritika received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where she served as Co-Chair of the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) and wrote several submissions to the United Nations on human rights abuses committed against Tibetans for the Human Rights Clinic. She obtained her B.A. in Government and International Relations from Smith College. She is licensed to practice law in New York.

A New Yorker by birth, Kritika is half-Nepali and half-Bangladeshi and completed her secondary education at an international school in India.
