Yinka Onayemi


Yinka Onayemi spent several years as an attorney at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe where he leveraged his cross-practice experience in commercial litigation and white collar defense to represent clients in civil and criminal matters. Yinka worked with Orrick's commercial litigation team to advise defendants and plaintiffs in high-stakes tort- and contract-based legal actions in jurisdictions across the country. In his white collar work, Yinka represented individuals and corporate clients facing investigations by government agencies (incl. the DOJ, the SEC, and the PCAOB) for alleged violations of federal and state anti-corruption and anti-fraud statutes. Yinka also helped to advise clients against claims brought by private plaintiffs in securities-related actions. Yinka has maintained a robust pro bono practice, representing clients in issues related to reproductive rights, civil rights, international human rights, and immigration.

While in law school, Yinka externed at the Department of Justice's Antitrust Division where he was involved in investigating antitrust misconduct and developing pro-competitive federal policies.

Yinka earned his J.D. from Georgetown Law, his L.L.M. from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po), and his bachelor's degree from Colby College where he studied Economics with a concentration in Mathematics.

Yinka is a member of the New York bar and is a member of the New York City Bar Committee for African Affairs.
